My School CD Record at Talbot House Preparatory School, Bournemouth

On 21st November 2017, My School CD spent the day with Talbot House Preparatory School recording their first Christmas CD with us.

They recorded some lovely traditional Christmas songs including Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Silent Night and ran an artwork competition in school for the children to design the CD cover. You can see the winning artwork designs below.

As part of their project, we also gave Talbot House Preparatory School a free 30-player Monkey Drum Set.

"Thank you very much for the percussion set, what a lovely surprise! We couldn't believe how many different instruments were in the box. Lots of djembe drums and some other more unusual instruments - great quality and totally free! What a brilliant gift! We are very much enjoying putting them to immediate use!

We had a fantastic experience with My School CD. It is all so well organised, so provided you follow the formula set out for you, it's totally stress free! We went for the 'Zero Risk' option for a first venture and it was brilliant. The children were so excited when the engineer came for our recording day and they challenged themselves to try to record their song perfectly first time! We held a front cover design competition which the children loved and we produced a lovely Christmas CD just in time for the holidays.

Despite being a small school of only 150 pupils we managed to sell about 120 CDs which just shows what a super souvenir they were and what a fantastic opportunity for the children it was. I was really surprised by the quality of the sound and the parents were very complimentary about how unique the CDs were.

We will definitely repeat the process again. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience."

My School CD Record at St Catherine's Catholic Primary School, Dorset

On 17th October 2017, My School CD spent the day in Dorset, recording a whole school CD for St Catherine's Catholic Primary School. As part of their project, the school received a free 30-player African drum and percussion set.

We've received some lovely comments from Sarah Kernick, the school's music co-ordinator, about their experience recording a CD with us:
"Many thanks for the drum set - it's fab! The children are having great fun using the lovely new instruments - thank you.

The children really enjoyed the experience of recording their work and producing a CD for their families. It gave them a unique opportunity to further showcase their work."

My School CD Record at Upton Infant School, Dorset

On 15th November 2016, My School CD spent the day with Upton Infant School in Dorset recording songs with each class and the whole school.

Here is what Rebecca Gdesis, the school's music co-ordinator said about their recording day:
"Today was an exciting first at Upton Infant School. We were visited by a professional sound engineer to record our super singing! He brought lots of special equipment with him, spent time with each year group and joined us for our singing assembly to record our whole school songs. The money raised from the CD sales will go towards replacing playground equipment.

As part of making our school CD, we have been sent a set of African class percussion instruments. They are really beautiful and unlike any other instruments we have already, so will be very useful, especially when our Year 1 groups do their African topic.

Thank you very much to My School CD for this experience".

My School CD Record at Paddox Primary School, Rugby, Warwickshire

On 15th June 2016 we spent the day recording Paddox Primary School's CD.

Here's some feedback we received from Charlotte Maloney from Paddox Primary School who worked with us to complete what has been a fantastic project:
"Wow! What a great project to be part of! Today, I have doubled my car journey because I couldn't stop listening to the CD on the way home from work.

The sound engineer has done a great job of recording the children and editing the tracks to make sure they sound great. I was particularly impressed with the echo he used for soloists and the fade in/fade out effects for some of the songs.

The project has run smoothly and efficiently with little work needed from school staff. The letter templates are easy to adapt and send out and if you follow the step-by-step instructions you can't go wrong. A great addition to the project was the artwork competition- the children loved designing a front cover and their competition entries have made a great school display.

The recording day was great fun for both children and staff. It really helped to create a sense of community by bringing everyone together to sing.

Overall, it was a great project and I would definitely recommend it to other schools!'
